To quote TSN's Bob McKenzie's Twitter account - "Now it's on."According to the TSN report, Atlanta Thrashers General Manager Don Waddell met with Team Captain and pending UFA Ilya Kovalchuk and informed him to expect a trade in the coming hours or days.
According to the TSN report, five teams are still in the bidding for Russian star's services, listing the Blackhawks, Bruins, and Rangers as three of the teams still in the running. Bob McKenzie just tweeted that there are actually more teams than the five in the TSN article.
McKenzie lists Boston, Calgary, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia all as potential landing spots for Kovalchuk.
The conclusion to the Kovalchuk-Saga will have big implications for the league's power dynamics. I'll be sure to post a breakdown of the trade soon after the news is broken.
